When taking selfie pictures, we want to capture a specific moments. Selfies have become a craze and people are going to extremes to take pictures of themselves in the most bizarre situations. Sadly some of those moments are their last. The need for increasingly putting oneself at risk to take more spectacular and risky self portraits to outdo others on social networking platforms, should be carefully thought out before taking them.
Xenia Ignatyeva took a selfie from a bridge 28 feet off the ground to impress her friends. The 17-year-old Russian girl lost her balance and fell on a cable, which tragically electrocuted her.
In December of 2012 Mexican pop star Jenni Rivera and her entourage took this selfie right before taking off on a private jet which sadly crashed and left no survivors
On April 26, 2014 Courtney Sanford posted this picture of her reacting to the Pharrel Williams song ‘Happy’ while driving through North Carolina; seconds later she crashed into a truck and the accident proved to be fatal.
This is a selfie snapped by a famous Puerto Rican reggaetón musician Jadiel, uploaded to Instagram moments before he had a fatal motorcycle crash in New York in May, 2014.

21-year old Oscar Otero Aguilar lost his life when he tried to take a selfie with a gun for his Facebook page in July of 2014. The Mexican gun enthusiast accidentally shot himself in the head and didn’t survive.
A 13-year-old girl named Karen Hernández wanted to snap a selfie on the banks of the El Tunal river in Durango, Mexico. Unfortunately she fell into the river and drowned; firefighters recovered her body in July.
8. MIDDLE EAST CAR BOMB
This selfie death story is demonstrative of just how dangerous things can be in the Middle East. Mohammed Shaar and his friends had posed for the photograph above when just seconds later a car bomb, designed to kill a high-ranking politician, killed them all. The incident took place in Beirut, Lebanon in 2012. They were just young people enjoying each other’s company. Such callousness from the murderers.
9. COLETTE AND ASHLEY LAST SELFIE BEFORE DEATH IN ACCIDENT
These two are Collette Moreno and Ashley Theobald. The pair were on their way to Collette’s bachelorette party in Kansas City, Missouri when they snapped this selfie. But not long after the shot was taken, a Dodge pick-up truck careered into the Chevy Malibu that they were driving. Apparently, the driver lost control of the car as a passing car emitting a lot of fumes caused her to have an asthma attack. RIP.
10. LAST SELFIE MINUTES BEFORE SUICIDE
Jojo Tsai, a pretty 20 year-old from China took this selfie atop a tall building and uploaded it to her Instagram account just minutes before throwing herself over the edge. Various social media postings hinted that a was a split from her boyfriend was behind it. One of her last postings read, “I never thought that you would deceive me, but I still can’t stop loving you. After I’m dead, I will haunt you day and night. I will never be apart from you again.” Chilling stuff.

Selfie of some of the Beas River tragedy victims: 48 students and 3 faculty/staff members of V.N.R. Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering were on a plant tour. Some of them were getting themselves photographed on the banks of the Beas river on the Mandi-Manali National Highway NH-21, when they were washed away as the water flow in the river suddenly increased.
In yet another tragic instance of the growing “extreme selfie craze” among teenagers, a 17-year-old schoolboy fell off from the roof-top of a nine-storey building while trying to click an “extreme selfie” in Russia last week, media reports said.
The 17-year-old student climbed the building in Vologda city with a friend to capture a stunning selfie while dangling off the towering structure.
Once up, he approached the edge in fading light and lowered himself over it with a rope and a smartphone. Suddenly, the rope gave way and he fell down nine floors, suffering massive injuries.
The schoolboy, who had posted several selfies in high-risk situations under the handle “drewsssik” on Instagram, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died after a few hours, the report added.
